Survival is the only worldwide movement for tribal peoples whose lives, lands and livelihoods are threatened.

Throughout Africa, Asia and beyond, tribal peoples face challenges to their land and welfare from mining, cattle ranchers, missionaries and other intruders bringing violence and disease.

For almost 40 years, we have brought attention to their situations, supported their struggles and given them a platform to convey their message. We have supported court cases, launched massive media stories and carried out high-profile protests with great success. Our work has led to the demarcation of tribal reserves, the abandonment of oil exploration projects and a far greater global awareness of the issue. All this happens independently of governmental or corporate sponsorship, thanks to our supporters.

We work towards a world where tribal peoples have their land rights respected, their human rights upheld and the opportunity to decide their futures.
OUR PROJECTS/CURRENT EMPHASIS
We are presently working with and on behalf of tribal peoples in Brazil, Peru, Botswana, India, Papua New Guinea and many other locations.

Below are just a couple of examples.

Uncontacted tribes

A major campaign at the moment is that of uncontacted tribes. There are over 100 peoples across the world who have little or no contact with anyone but their own community.

Extremely vulnerable to outsiders' disease and fearful of contact, they remain hidden in the rainforest's depths. We lobby governments to set up and protect dedicated reserves so that intruders cannot bring them harm. We also pressure businesses and other groups making incursions on their territory.

Dongria Kondh, India

With aluminium ore abundant in the sacred Niyamgiri Hills of Orissa State, India, British giant Vedanta Resources is pushing to start mining.

This rich wildlife area is also home to the Dongria Kondh people who worship the mountain and live by hunting, gathering and farming on the hills. They have done so for centuries.

The mine will severely degrade their local environment and resources as well as damaging their culture and ravaging the Mountain at the heart of their spiritual traditions.

Our campaign has brought media attention to Vedanta, raised the matter with its shareholders and seen protests at its PR firm's doorstep.

There is more to come as we battle to protect the Dongria Kondh's right to its land and future.

We continue to work with many other peoples all over the planet. Please see our website to learn more and get involved:

Je soutien Survival depuis plusieurs années, et leur système d'intervention et de communication sans publicité couteuse m'a séduit. Il est intéressant aussi de savoir que vous pouvez aider cette association par d'autre moyen que l'envoi de don, ce qui est fortement appréciable.
Le site pour les enfants est très bien fait!

dommage,
ses projets et actions sont à connaitre,
nous avons besoin du regard que ces peuples posent sur le monde autant qu'ils ont besoin de nos technologies pour que le monde soit en paix et unifié.
