Community Based Schools - NWFP Pakistan

Learning for Life has been working with the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) since 1996 to develop community based schools owned and managed by the communities themselves. We currenlty support a total of 70 schools and have provided 3780 children in the area with an education.
As a result of the earthquake in Northern Pakistan on October 8th 2005, 19 of our schools were destroyed. However, since then we have rebuilt all the damaged schools PLUS an extra nine new schools. Each school in earthquake resistant and has three classrooms and an adjoing health centre, which provides valuable health, nutrition and hygiene information to local communities.
