A successful harvest, grown by an 88 year old grandmother of five AIDS orphans in Machakos, using reduced-labour farming techniques suitable for her physical ability.
This maize was grown using improved farming techniques following training from VETAID.
Local women in Machakos, Kenya are trained on some of the most appropriate farming methods they can use to improve the quantity and quality of their crops.
Tumaini (meaning ‘Hope’ in Swahili) Youth Group – made up of young people who were orphaned due to HIV/AIDS – have set up a small business growing seedlings which they sell at the local market.
